How to Best Help Your Child at Home
Sight WordsSight words - high frequency words in text - go home inside the gallon sized "little book bag" that your child brings home each night. These words are written on note cards. They are so important to your child's success. Have them find the words when they read, flash the words to them, have them spell the words, or have them write the words in sentences. Please return this bag and its contents every day.

ReadingThe best way to help your child succeed in Kindergarten really involves reading: spend time reading to them, listen to them read, let them pick out books at the library, have them point to and say words they know wherever they find them. We ask that you read with them in some way for 20 minutes a day everyday.
Starting in October, use your child's "little book bag" as a helpful reading resource! You will also have access to RAZ kids, a resource with a digital leveled library of "just-right" books for your child! |
